SmartWatch Specialist

The Role

This is a supplementary position title within the third level of this series. Employees are expected to perform the full range of duties and to train for the next level. Employees are expected to perform more complex work which requires more knowledge of procedures and the exercise of independent judgment.

Reporting to either Team/Assistant Manager or Supervisor, the employee is responsible for the maintenance and data integrity of SmartWatch vessels. This is achieved by going through event tracks and subsequent system alerts.

Modifies event reports using supporting data to ensure an accurate sequence of events.

Services critical and non-critical SmartWatch alerts to maintain the route and data

Uses knowledge of standardized reports to correct errors in event report parsing and provides information to fix the problem to vessels and/or the Customer Service Team.

Maintains Ownership Service entries to ensure data is being ingested within Smartwatch and AROS successfully.

Is able to determine how to apply guidelines to non-standard situations and take action appropriately.

Provides task support to various teams in the form of special projects, quality control, way points, reconstruction of routes and splitting of voyages.

All Fleet Information employees are expected to identify ways the team can work together better from both an operational and overall business perspective. Each team member is expected to fully participate in meetings and projects and to help each other meet the productivity standards in place.


  • All Level 3 duties.
  • Services Smartwatch alerts
  • Modifies and Maintains Event Reports and Ownership Service
  • Troubleshoots Event Report processing problems and provides fixes to vessels when needed


  • Fleet Information Technician Level 2 or higher
  • Demonstrates good problem solving skills and strong technical acumen within standardized reports
  • Must be able to work within an ambiguous environment primarily driven by client data concerns.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 12-15 months experience from start of hire date and/or Manager approval through review.
