Lectures and learning

StormGeo communicates knowledge to the people through the lectures "Himmel og Hav" (heaven and sea) and "Klimaklok" (climate wise).

"Himmel og Hav" (heaven and sea) - A lecture tour about the climate changes
The Norwegian ministry of environment and StormGeo in cooperation with the Norwegian Meteorological Institute in cooperation arranged the lecture tour "Himmel og hav" in 2007. The tour was about climate changes and the consequences this have, and possible solutions. It was held in over twenty cities around Norway.

The former minister of environment Helen Bjørnøy launched the tour to widen Norwegians horizon for the climate challenges. One of the challenges in the public debate is to find room for cause and consequence analysis and what really happens with the climate on the earth. What are facts, what is uncertain and what is just pure speculations. It"s was a need for arenas where time were given to discuss what really happens to thea climate on earth. This was one of the main reasons that the three parties got together and arranged the lecture tour.

The lectures was held by Siri Kalvig (metheorologist in StormGeo) and Hilde Holdhus (oceanographer in StormGeo) together with Cecilie Mauritzen and Inger Hanssen Bauer from met.no.

News about the lectures from the Norwegian ministry of environment (in Norwegian)

"Klimaklok" (climate wise) is a free course aimed at teachers in Norway conducted by Siri Kalvig and Tobias Thorleifsson.
The course has been developed on behalf of the Norwegian Ministry of the Environment as part of a national campaign called Klimaløftet (effort to teach Norwegians about the climate and its implications).

The Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research and the Science Center (the Norwegian national centre for science in education) contribute to the project.
