StormDrift

StormGeo has developed an advanced 3D multi-phase oil drift model, inspired by the MOSM model developed by Tkalich (2006). It provides our customers with a high-resolution model with a high level of computational efficiency and a strong focus on atmospheric and oceanographic forcing.

In the event of an oil spill, StormDrift will give you updated and detailed oil drift prognoses within an hour. By default, a prognosis comprises high-resolution maps of the total oil concentration and the area of oil slick at 3-hour intervals over the next 4 days. However, this can be modified to suit the customer"s needs. Forcing-data are updated twice a day.

StormDrift also runs in statistical mode, producing reports used for environmental impact assessments. Our customer base includes international consulting group Acona CMG, industrial conglomerate Aker, as well as energy companies Nexen and Centrica. Our reports are approved by the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT).
