This year, our colleague Morten Soerensen, Senior Technical CST Manager at StormGeo Shipping,  will be presenting on “Big Data – what does it mean to the different stakeholders?”:

  • What is actually considered big data? Past and present
  • How to get access to so-called big data
  • How can all these data be used? How can you make sense of them?
  • When is big data too big?
  • Comparing and aligning sensor data with manually reported data

The presentation will take place September 26, from 12:15 to 12:30.

Morten is a Danish Master Mariner and he holds a degree in Geophysics and Meteorology from University of Copenhagen. After he started his career onboard, he moved into onshore forecasting at the Danish Met Office, and operations in Shipping industry. After that, Morten was a partner in an IT company handling implementation and training of onboard softwares for 5 years before he joined StormGeo where he provides technical support to the team and clients.

He has been working in Shipping and weather industry since 1998 and shows extensive experience and knowledge in Meteorology, Marine Weather Routing and onboard softwares.
