As a StormGeo Forecaster, you will use state of the art in-house software to interpret real-time data, deliver forecasts and assist with customer decision making in a wide variety of fields.

You will produce a wide variety of forecast products covering many forecasting disciplines, which include the offshore and renewable industries, varied aspects of aviation as well as road ice forecasting.

Training will be to WMO standards and will include all aspects of operational meteorology, from essential forecasting skills to understanding customer requirements and building the skills and understanding to bridge the gap between meteorology and industry.

Qualified operational meteorologists will be provided training focussed on forecast production and delivery. On completion of training, you will continue to work closely with these meteorologists.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver weather forecasts to customers through a variety of media.
  • Monitor current and developing weather situations, taking decisive action where required in order to advise customers in a comprehensive and timely manner.
  • Work closely with other meteorologists across StormGeo to ensure we communicate a consistent weather story.
  • Manage and prioritise workload effectively, particularly in changing circumstances.
  • Deliver services on time, in full and to the quality and standards customers expect from StormGeo.
  • Identify continuous improvements to enable customers to operate in the most safe and cost-effective manner.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

  • The ability to work shifts. The shift pattern can involve 12-hour shifts covering days and nights, including weekends and public holidays.
  • The ability to work as a member of a team.
  • The ability to ensure people get the information they need, on time and in an appropriate manner and format.
  • An appreciation of customer needs and the importance of good customer service.
  • A demonstrable interest in the weather and how it affects you.
