StormGeo is expanding our Machine Learning team and is looking for Data Scientists.

Weather is a major cause of business disruption world-wide, and we are strengthening our team to lift our capabilities in machine learning, AI, and deep learning.

This is an opportunity for an experienced data scientist who is looking to take the lead on data science projects in StormGeo. By leveraging technology and data driven decision making, StormGeo provides world class services to major industries impacted by weather world-wide.

Based in the beautiful city of Bergen Norway, we are a mix of young and experienced professionals on a mission to make the shipping industry more energy efficient, keep crew safe in marine operations, and predict future insurance claims caused by hazardous weather.

Your analytical skills and ability to engage with your colleagues and customers are most important. We expect you to be skilled in mathematics and computer science and have a proven track record with deep learning techniques. Your current experience and knowledge of languages and platforms are less important than your passion and drive, desire, and ability to analyze problems and produce amazing results.

What will you be doing?

  • Convert business problems into quantifiable, solvable data science projects
  • Scope and implement data projects related to machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Work with cutting edge technologies to deliver excellent end products to clients
  • Solve customer problems by creating operational systems for smarter decisions.
  • Participate in creating the R&D roadmap.
  • Apply your expertise in predictive analytics, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how to create value out of our data lake.

Skills & Requirements

  • A proven ability to explore, manipulate and visualize data to discover new patterns
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within Data Science (not including Education)
  • Master's or PhD in computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics or related field.
  • Excellent Python programming skills
  • Strong Machine Learning experience including Deep Learning
  • Strong knowledge working Python or R, Tensorflow, Keras and real world knowledge of solving ML problems
  • Cloud experience (AWS, Azure or Google) would be advantageous
  • Be a good team player
  • Must be fluent in English
