Are you looking to have a role in the advancement of digitalization in shipping?

Due to continuing growth, StormGeo is looking for a Solution Sales Specialist who will focus on our digital solutions in Planning & Navigation. This person should be a critical thinker looking for an opportunity to assume significant responsibility for business growth in a changing industry.

Based in our established Hamburg office, you will be joining a team of shipping professionals located worldwide. From the Hamburg office you will cover clients and prospects based in most of Central and Southern Europe. You will be the lead for the Planning & Navigation portfolio in the region.

You will be responsible for developing new clients through strategic prospecting, relationship building and solution-selling. While you will become a specialist in Planning & Navigation, you will be expected to explore the scope of our closely related solutions when needed, especially our market leading route optimization capabilities.

StormGeo is a global leader in weather intelligence and ship routing solutions. We are currently the only company offering integrated solutions for navigation planning, route optimization, weather and fleet performance. Our services and products ensure safety, compliance and improved fleet performance. Following our recent acquisition of Nautisk, a leading global supplier of maritime charts and publications, and the agreement between DNV GL and StormGeo to consolidate their fleet performance solutions under the banner and management of StormGeo (DNV GL has a 27% shareholding), more than 12,000 ships worldwide are now using our services. We continue to invest heavily in digitalization to help our clients with significant improvement in performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Effectively engage with existing and prospective clients to develop a healthy sales pipeline
  • Truly understand each client’s business objectives and operations—leveraging this knowledge to drive improved performance and transformation through the sales of StormGeo portfolio of solutions
  • Ensure value realization through robust client success plans
  • Listen to client feedback and infuse industry relevant insights into client proposals

The position reports by function to the global Commercial Director of Planning & Navigation and for all coordination within the region to the StormGeo Regional Team Manager. You will liaise with other divisions of StormGeo, as needed.

We are looking for a person with:

  • Deep knowledge of the commercial shipping industry, with relevant experience from solution and software sales
  • A self-starter and team player with a desire to provide the best possible results
  • Good analytical skills for tactical and strategic decisions
  • Proven experience in acquiring and building new business
  • A strong interest in new technologies
  • Methodological and systematic approach
  • Bachelor/Masters degree
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
