Technical Customer Service - Shipping

StormGeo is strengthening its technical customer service team in Aberdeen. Our clients are vessels and shipping companies globally, and the main tasks will be related to setup and support of our product solutions.

The candidate will be working directly with both vessel masters and onshore operators, both proactively with advice and instructions and responding to incoming questions and client queries. Basic IT understanding related to software installations, operating systems and similar are required.

Maritime knowledge is a strong advantage but the right mindset with both analytical and decision-making skills are important. As our industry is constantly developing the successful candidate should have the capability and interest in learning and embracing new skills and challenges.

Responsibilities Overview

Implement new product and services to new and existing clients, including software installation support.

Main responsibility will be to rollout Software (SERL, DRS, BVS and FDSS) to all vessels serviced by StormGeo (Monitor which vessels are in port and have access to broadband, follow up each vessel individually to secure a successful installation and use of the software).

Assist in other Customer Service related work, including, but not limited to Route Advisory CST.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide customer support via telephone, email and live chat
  • Debug complex product installations; resolve complicated product problems by applying both established procedures and creative alternatives
  • Provide support for various product versions and operating systems
  • Maintain problem status and problem resolution records, and regularly update the Customer Service and Support Problem tracking databases
  • Involvement in customer installation and training
  • (Product support will include all StormGeo platforms but not limited to FleetDSS, GV, BVS/MM, DRS, Position Polling and AROS Database)

Essential Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Logistical support/Software/ Technical Support Environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an emphasis on effective communications with customers, team members and management
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills with an ability to work unsupervised in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to multi-task, use personal judgment and utilize strong decision-making skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows, MS Office, Email systems
  • Experience in a customer service type role
  • Willingness to travel to other StormGeo operational offices for professional development training
  • Prior experience in a ship routing role /organisation while a benefit is not essential
