We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Data Engineer with expertise in CI/CD and designing, implementing, and managing staging environments to join the DataOps team. The ideal candidate will be a professional with a strong background in data engineering, with an emphasis on creating and maintaining staging environments for testing and development, designing and building scalable data pipelines, working with large datasets, and deploying and managing systems in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the staging environment to support development and testing of data pipelines and applications
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks for data products and applications
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for deploying and testing data products and applications
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for data pipeline and application health
  • Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies
  • Work closely with internal team and external partners to ensure new developments align with roadmap and integrate seamlessly with other platform components
  • Mentor and coach team members to improve technical skills and achieve team goals

You will be based in Bergen, Norway. Working from Oslo is an option. 

We expect you to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Atmospheric Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or related role with large-scale data or project management and oversight experience
  • Strong conceptual and practical foundation of core computer science concepts like algorithms, data structures, database management systems and object-oriented programming
  • Proven expertise in Python programming, data modelling, and SQL databases design and usage
  • Strong experience in designing and maintaining staging environments for testing and development
  • Experience with CI/CD tools
  • Proven expertise of UNIX/LINUX operating systems and script languages
  • Knowledge of version control systems like git is required
  • Knowledge of distributed computing systems and big data technologies
  • Passion for learning and staying up-to-date with emerging trends in data engineering and technology

You need problem-solving, critical thinking, close attention to details and communication skills to succeed in this role.

You will collaborate and communicate with team members, product owners, and other stakeholders in an international and distributed team. Professional fluency in English is required.
