About the job
As our business expands, we are adding to our analysis team within power/energy markets — a growing segment of the company. The analyses currently include Nordic and European Power, emission, and fuel markets. We are looking for a quant energy market analyst to join the energy analyst team in Oslo. We are open to training those who have no previous industry experience; however, you should have a strong interest in the field of energy markets and a passion for sustainable solutions and technical brilliance. In this challenging and inspiring position, you will work with many teams within StormGeo, including supporting sales activities and collaborating closely with R&D. You will also contribute to external presentations, so excellent communication and collaboration skills are vital.
You will:
Produce daily price prognoses and fundamental market analyses to major utilities, energy companies, and trading entities throughout Europe. Design and develop analysis, tools, and models that support and improve energy price forecasts, with a strong focus on how the weather and climate affect energy prices in the short and long term. Develop automized or semi-automized workflows and products to create efficiencies and scalability, with a basis in AI and ML. Maintain knowledge on drivers of the energy transition on the road to net-zero society. React to changes in market data to make the required changes in the models. Work closely with IT and R&D teams to ensure data sourcing/data structures/databases/developed models can be integrated and maintained optimally.
Who you are
We’re looking for a good quant energy analyst who is an independent thinker; creative in finding alternative solutions, is diligent, responsible, and reliable. We believe you have a practical and pragmatic approach to your work. You can build collaboration within the team and across the business and can apply the right level of approximation and estimation to deliver results within the required timeline.
What do you know?
We believe you have experience, in energy consulting energy market analysis with a BSc. / MSc. or from either technical, mathematical, economical, or financial studies. We expect you to have solid IT and data analysis skills in Microsoft 365, VBA programming and Python and that you have a good mathematical basis and can crunch numbers into sound market understanding. You must be fluent in English both written and spoken, preferably also in a Scandinavian language.
What’s in it for you
