GLOBAL: STORMGEO ANNOUNCES CARBON FOOTPRINT DASHBOARD AND INKS AGREEMENT WITH HANSA TANKERS

Setting out its decarbonisation stall at SMM, Alfa Laval’s StormGeo has unveiled its new Carbon Footprint Dashboard and also announced that Hansa Tankers will be rolling out the s-Insight fleet performance management software to all the vessels in its pool.

The new Carbon Footprint Dashboard is specifically designed for energy efficiency and decarbonisation managers but will be available to all s-Insight users from next month.

In a statement sent to Bunkerspot today (6 September), Madeleine Engelhardt, Product Manager, Fleet Compliance and Technical Performance at StormGeo, said: ‘The Carbon Footprint Dashboard provides a single source of all CO2 emissions data. It gives access to the analytics necessary to review the impact of implemented measures, identify corrective actions, and report on carbon intensity alignment with industry trajectories to internal and external stakeholders. The dashboard helps shipping companies focus on the decarbonisation metrics that matter.’

The system calculates and displays various CO2 emission indicators for fleets, vessel subgroups, and individual vessels for each leg of the voyage.

StormGeo said that many of its customers have already expressed interest in the new Carbon Footprint Dashboard. One of them – Bernd Hein, Managing Director at F.A. VINNEN & CO – outlined how his company plan to use the new tool: ‘StormGeo’s Carbon Footprint Dashboard will help us keep detailed track of how much CO2 our shipping activities emit into the atmosphere and quickly gives us the necessary overview to see whether parts of our fleet aren’t performing as they should.

‘It will enable us to drill down into the data and see how something as small as a single leg of an individual vessel impacts our overall emissions and get the decision-support necessary to correct any issues.’

Hansa Tankers will also be looking to boost its environmental performance from its use of StormGeo’s s-Insight.

Torfin Eide, the COO at Hansa Tankers – which oversees a pool of more than 50 vessels – said: ‘StormGeo’s s-Insight provides tools that assist us in managing the environmental and commercial performance of our entire fleet in one dashboard. By also adding weather and routing data to the operator decision-making toolbox, we gain new and actionable insights that enable immediate, measurable CO2 impact on our trade, which in turn will positively enhance the pool’s financial performance and environmental footprint in the coming years.’

StormGeo and Alfa Laval will be showcasing their maritime decarbonisation solutions on Stand #A1 226 at the SMM show, which takes place in Hamburg over the next four days. StormGeo will also be host a range of speaker presentations in Room Osaka 3, which feature both in-house experts as well as Arne Schulz-Heimbeck and Barry Authers from DNV and AlfaWall Oceanbird’s Managing Directotr Niclas Dahl.
