Sigve Solvaag

Junior Developer, Bergen

Sigve is a Junior Developer on the StormGeo Research & Development team in Bergen. With a background in Information Science, Sigve develops processes for integrating observation sources for use in meteorological and oceanographic models.

Sigve’s Story

“A lot of processes and tasks are possible to automate – I want to uncover them to support my colleagues by eliminating time-consuming workloads. The R&D team can perform better if they are supported by intelligent systems.”

Sigve joined StormGeo in 2017 as a part-time Junior Developer while working on his master’s thesis at the University of Bergen. He specializes in Information Science, using software engineering principles to structure a robust and dynamic data system for StormGeo’s varied observations data.

With experience within Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, Semantic Technologies and Machine Learning, Sigve is dedicated to developing solutions that improve user experiences and further development at StormGeo.

Sigve emphasizes flexibility in his work, having tackled varied projects and challenges. In his time at StormGeo, he has already supported the development of several products, ranging from aviation services to media forecasting.

“For me, it's important that the user’s expectations are met, while also offering solutions that the user may not have realized are possible.”

Sigve is a volunteer at the Student Radio in Bergen, as well as a student-representative for the Bergen chapter of IxDA, a community for UX-development and interaction design.
