Onshore Wind Power
StormGeo has during the past 10 years developed a unique modelling suite that is powerful and flexible enough to define and run dedicated areas anywhere in the world. StormGeo uses and accesses all necessary data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
At StormGeo, we have specialised in modelling the dynamic flow and energy production in wind farms. Using our advanced fine-scale modelling and site assessment techniques, we can provide reliable production estimates for different wind farm configurations and layouts. Extreme wind conditions can be evaluated, and climate trends are taken into account.
Unique "virtual measurements" are created for each turbine position. You may access our Data Extractor, picking wind data from high-resolution weather archives, or license our Wind Farm Optimizer to import your project layouts.
Even at the most complex wind power sites, such as rock islands and offshore sites near rugged coastlines, our models generate a detailed and realistic wind field at every turbine location, taking into account the numerous interactions between the wind, waves, topography and land surface conditions. Special effort is made to ensure the realistic treatment of forest.
Once the farm is operational, the same models can be used to forecast the daily energy production from the wind farm, and even for each individual wind turbine.
